Usnea, also known as
Old Man's Beard, is a lichen which grows on old
trees and is a
combination of algae and fungi functioning as a
single micro-organism.
It has been used for hundreds of years by many
cultures due to it's medicinal purposes (antibiotic
and antifungal properties). Wild animals are also
known to consume it.
Sustainably harvested from organic forest lands in
Maine.
